Deseronto Warriors?
I’ve made my feelings known on the GMHL forums about what I think the name of the new/old team should be named in Deseronto. I think the name ‘Warriors’ suits a First Nations theme and is inherently fierce. I even cobbled up a logo for the team.
I even went so far as to park the domain name deserontowarriors.com. I didn’t park it to make money though. I parked it because I was really insulted when I found that deserontothunder.com was parked when Luke and I were putting together the website for the original team. It had leaked that there would be a team and by the time I tried to register the name, someone had scooped it. Not this time.
If you’re reading this and you’d like the name, for the official team in Deseronto, Ontario, Canada, just drop me a line and I’ll be glad to transfer the name to the team. If you’d also like me to do the website for the team, THAT’S GREAT!

I assume that your “First Nation theme” for your logo is based on the reference to the local community of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte. If you intention was to honour our community (as Deseronto was named after one of our founding members Captain John Deseronto) then I would suggest changing the Sioux headress on the logo. The Mohawks also have a headress called a Kahstowa (pronounced Gust-O-wah) which has only three upright feathers. However, if your intention was mere tokenism to a more pan-Indian First Nation streotype, many in our community would find it offensive in our community.

Thanks Brant (I’ve emailed Brant in person to discuss revising the logo).
Just so there’s no confusion about my intentions, this logo is merely a mockup of my vision for the logo. Were it, or I, chosen to do the logo I’d pay someone to professionally produce a logo after consulting with the community about it’s final look.
You really can’t fault me for trying. I think it looks better than a picture of a cloud.
Please feel free to email me pictures or logos that would be appropriate for Deseronto and I’ll design a new logo. I do like the subtle strength of the chief in my mockup. If all I need to change is the headress I’d be extremely happy.
