For me, movies just hang after about 20 minutes. Nothing can wake the machine from the movie. I finally gave in and bought myself a cheap portable for about $100. It's exactly what I was looking for anyway. I was experiencing strange audio problems with Halo about a month ago, but they're gone again and things are working fine. Overall it has been a great machine for the money. I've been creating DVDs with Adobe Premiere Elements without any problems. I have been experiencing problems with movies, but not in the manner that you’re describing. For me, movies just hang after about 20 minutes. Nothing can wake the machine from the movie. I finally gave in and bought myself a cheap portable for about $100. It’s exactly what I was looking for anyway.

I'm just wondering if I'm the only one experiencing problems with running movies on my laptop. Apparently a driver for the NVIDIA Geforce 7600 hasn't been updated since January 2007, and I wonder if that is the problem. My movies will become choppy at times, or the picture drops behind the audio...even with all applications and extra programs closed. I've tried every video player I can think of and it is still the same problem. Whether I download videos from the internet, or purchase them on DVD, the movies still don't run smoothly. Sometimes they do but it's completely unpredictable. I can only assume it is the driver for the video card. I'm miserable that I can't even watch a movie properly on my 1700 dollar laptop...please let me know if you have any ideas what is causing this problem.
